This started out as a bug with the shading in Far Cry 3. My first instict was to re install the game along with uplay, later finding out that it was most likely associated with my mobile graphics card. I purchased my game through Steam, and now whenever i go to launch it, an error message pops up stating 'The program can not start because uplay_r1_loader.dll is missing'.
Confusing part is when i go into: OS(C: ) Program Files (x86) > Ubisoft > Ubisoft Game Launcer , the file is right there staring at me.
Add/Remove Programs were used for both Far Cry and uPlay when being uninstalled. Then checking my hard drive to manually delete any other associated files (which is always just an empty Ubisoft Folder) before reinstalling. I have gone through this process at least twice now and i'm really hoping that i didn't just waste $50 dollars.
When publishers give away games, it often feels like the digital equivalent of a box marked “Free!” on the side of the road—inevitably you open it up to find a VHS copy of Captain Ron, a pair of ripped sweatpants, and some scratched-up Neil Diamond records. Case in point: Last week Deep Silver gave away copies of Homefront and like..why?
But occasionally a freebie comes along that’s actually worth nabbing. Cue Ubisoft, which this week is giving out free copies of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag--either the best of the Assassin’s Creeds or, if you’ve been in this a long time, maybe the second-best (after ACII). Okay, some people really love this year’s Assassin's Creed: Origins and might say third best.
You get the idea though. It’s good.
Mentioned in this article
The first of the post-Desmond Assassin’s Creeds, Black Flag ditched the dour tone of ACIII for a pirate-themed romp through the Caribbean. In some ways Black Flag moved away from the core tenets of the series—climbing was sidelined for instance, due to most Caribbean “cities” topping out at one or two stories tall. The change felt refreshing though, especially in the wake of three Renaissance-era Ezio games and then the disastrous ACIII. Oh, and the ship-based combat was so good Ubisoft brought it back for AC: Rogue, AC: Origins, and is even spinning it off into a standalone game (2018’s Skull and Bones).
If you’ve never played an Assassin’s Creed, Black Flag is a pretty good place to start. And if you have? Well, chances are you already own Black Flag, but if not you should absolutely take advantage of Ubisoft’s generosity and rectify that situation. Four years on, Black Flag is still the high-water mark (no pun intended) of the series for me, and the only Assassin’s Creed I’ve ever bothered to reach 100 percent completion. As someone who’s played all bazillion games in the series or whatever, that’s about the best recommendation I can give.
You’ll need a Uplay account, which is the only sticking point I can think of. If you’ve got one though, or don’t mind installing Uplay on your PC, head over here and claim your copy—the deal’s available through December 18.

Overview of Uplay_r1_loader.dll
What Is Uplay_r1_loader.dll?
Uplay_r1_loader.dll is a type of DLL file associated with Farcry 3 developed by UBI Soft Entertainment for the Windows Operating System. The latest known version of Uplay_r1_loader.dll is 1.0.0.0, which was produced for Windows. This DLL file carries a popularity rating of 2 stars and a security rating of 'UNKNOWN'.
What Are DLL Files?
DLL ('dynamic link library') files such as uplay_r1_loader.dll are small programs, similar to EXE ('executable') files, which allow multiple software programs to share the same functionality (eg. printing).
For example, let's say you are running Windows and editing a document in Microsoft Word. The DLL file that controls printing does not need to load unless it's function is needed - eg. you decide to print your document. When you select 'Print', Microsoft Word calls the printer DLL file, and it is loaded into memory (RAM) at that time. If you want to print a document in another program, Adobe Acrobat for example, that same printer DLL file will be used as well.
Why Do I Have DLL Errors?
Because they are shared files, DLL files exist outside of the software application itself. Although this provides many benefits for software developers, this separation also provides an opportunity for problems to occur.
Quite simply, if Windows cannot properly load your uplay_r1_loader.dll file, you will encounter an error message. Please see 'Causes of uplay_r1_loader.dll Errors' below for more information.
When Do DLL Errors Occur?
DLL errors, such as those associated with uplay_r1_loader.dll, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing).
Common Uplay_r1_loader.dll Error Messages
The most common uplay_r1_loader.dll errors that can appear on a Windows-based computer are:

- 'This application failed to start because uplay_r1_loader.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.'
These DLL error messages can appear during program installation, while a uplay_r1_loader.dll-related software program (eg. Farcry 3) is running, during Windows startup or shutdown, or even during the installation of the Windows operating system. Keeping track of when and where your uplay_r1_loader.dll error occurs is a critical piece of information in troubleshooting the problem.
